Two Hoodrats and One Road.....to musical hell

I had to do a post on the YouTube hit, 'It's So Cold in The D'.....long overdue but I already started writing it up a while ago lol!

OKAY...some hood looking chick from the D (Detroit, Michigan) released a tribute song about a friend who was murdered - you get the picture......the rest is viral history!!!

T-Baby 'It's So Cold in the D'
PROS

  • The fact that she was willing to embarass herself just to make this tribute song

  • The 90's vibe of the beat and the hand gestures/dances are all reminiscent of a, dare I say it, erm SWV/Aaliyah videee...oooo?? No?...Or was that just me who felt that? Moving on....
CONS

  • She can't even double up her OWN vocals in time?!?!Her adlibs and ev-er-y-thing are just all over the place. It sounds like two people trying to rap along to a Twista song at a karaoke night....but they are not in the same time zones.

  • Her shocking disregard for 1) her skin against THAT hair colour, 2) rhythm 3) English grammar ["It's so caaaaald in the D! How the $%*& do we s'pose to keep peace..."]  and 4) general decorum. Decorum, daaarling. Decorum. YES, your loved one died but do you have to swear so much?!?!? And stay IN TIME! The least you can do is let your friend rest in peace....I'd be turning in my grave if anyone EVER used my death as an excuse for this nonsense.

  • The backing dancers/homegirls look like they don't really care who died, [or who their babydaddy is]. They look bored or even slightly annoyed.... like the video took longer than expected and T-Baby was holding them back from their double date at Burger King.
Now, Shardinay.

Shardinay [SMH], Shardinay, Shardinay.
Suprisingly, some people in London STILL haven't seen this video!?!?! Which is crazy to believe seen as her video 'blew up' so quickly when it hit the net that she performed at a club in central London the following week! Even I was going to witness the wackness in full effect! THAT'S how big the Shardinay was in tha endz lol! When I first saw this video I refused to believe it was anything short of a parody video because it was so cringeworthy but as her horrible Mariah s-Carey vocals prove, she REALLY thinks she can sing?!?!

Shardinay ft Mani7esto 'Oh Boy'
PROS AND CONS [I had to combine the two because all the cons were pros and the pros were cons...lol!]

  • The first 'note' that escapes her mouth

  • The sudden tempo change of the beat is CLASSIC! It sounds like a really bad attempt to emulate an early Destiny's Child track or that the producer was inspired by someone emptying their dishwasher down a flight of stairs. Probably the latter.

  • The rapper Mani7esto's adlibs, weak verse and clothing. Both the Lonsdale and Ecko UNLTD brands are sooooooooo old skool that I bet even the bummiest of bums would find it hard to wear either brand on a cold winter's night. I can just imagine them faced with the dilemma...... "Lonsdale. Ecko. Or die......hmmm."

  • The fact that Mani7esto is spelt with a '7'

  • One of the YouTube comments about Shardinay: "She looks like Diddy Kong's Brother." OUCH.

  • Her 'choreographer' [HAHAHHAHAHA someone actually thought about these dance moves!!] is called Tipsey....the name speaks for itself...

  • The dancer on the left in the pink outfit is apparently pregnant! Now, I don't have stomach abs of steel, [I have healthy rings of jelly ;P] but still!!! Watch closely and judge for yourself....

I could go on all day about Shardinay but the YouTube comments do that for me! Me and the guys at work even made our own parody of the video and played the song at our store so you can imagine how much fun I have been making outta this....

"HHhooooOOOOOOOH BOYYYYYYYYYY!!! My singing's kinda weak....wait, wrong key..."

Memories....

Radio 1xtra really have been entertaining me these past few days with their UKG Takeover Week, playing all of the classic UK Garage tunes from yesteryear. Yesteryear. Damn. Can you believe those UKG days were a good DECADE ago!!!! Everytime I hear UKG it feels like it was only yesterday that I was wearing my tie 'too short' and passing notes in the classroom whilst drinking Panda Pops when the teacher's back was turned :). This song in particular gives me butterflies....the feeling of nostalgia when I hear this song is ridiculous -  it reminds me of the summer when I left behind all my Junior school and Playscheme friends. It was the best and saddest summer holiday ever.....

[I couldn't post the original video but click here to watch it! Cheesy 90's computer graphics at its finest!]

This song also reminds me of my last school disco with all the boys sliding across the floor on their knees.....remember the Latin Explosion....I know I do....*facepalm*smh*.....I picked this video over the original because I can't stand Ricky Martin's overly-unbuttoned shirts....

Oh gosh....I've just come across more classics!! Okay, I'm going to overload you guys with a few more of my favourite musical memories from my childhood haha.....

David Guetta x Bust-A-Mute

Last Saturday, I spent the whole day laughing with my workmates at random YouTube videos so I was in quite a giggly mood. So when me and Miss Sugarwild were walking past a TV screen [eating the best AND cheapest ice cream in central London] we stopped to laugh like maniacs at the David Guetta 'Memories' video. With tears streaming and ice cream dripping down our hands we stood outside the shop laughing like a pair of immature school kids without a care for the the tourists and scene dudes nearby.

We'd seen the video before - so why was it so funny to us this time...? Was my green pistachio ice cream spiked with something else of a green nature? No...it was because there was no sound....

David Guetta, single-handedly, maintains the notion that white people cannot dance. If you watch the 'Memories' video ON MUTE it really emphasises how fresh off the boat Guetta looks and dances as he tries to sponge off Kid Cudi's 'cool'[although Kid Cudi isn't that much of a dancer either].

My favourite parts are Guetta's sly look at Kid Cudi to make sure he didn't notice his weak attempt at the 'butterfly' @ 2:10 and the shoulder shrug skank @ 2:45

Before you watch, remember to BUST-A-MUTE!!!

NO SOUND=MORE FUN

If Guetta ever gets hurt doing one of his killer moves, I'm sure this dude would be the best candidate for a stunt double....

'Eccentric' is not even the word...

If you have never seen 'Eccentric's' American Idol audition, I urge you to watch this as it really is one of the BEST(WORST) auditions I have seen on A.I. along with that black dude that said, "...all my friends say that I sound like Brian Mcknight...." [he sounded more like Brian-t Gumble].

"I have fire equalling three men..."

"....I'm an athlete, I WILL get into acting as well I WILL get into modelling....and I will get into being an author...as well as a singersongwriterrapperchoreographerproducer and...composer

"I might be blowing up as Michael Jackson...maybe bigger..."

"I got 53 songs...when people listen to it they get tears....in their eyes....because they are so brilliant-brilliantly written..."

If anyone can watch and listen to the lyrics of his song, 'Sweetest Princess', WITHOUT laughing, you are an impressive being....

PROS
The played out bandana with the little point above his eyebrows...
The pretend microphone
"...I wanna jump out and start to fly..." [Jump out of where????]
"...to comfort me when I shed tears" [soft ass fruity ass sherbert ass nucca]
"...please come around so my heart can hear your sweet sweet sound..." [so what do we use our ears for...?]
"...fly with me through clouds through worlds with bright shine..." [
"Cruising in my coupe, my mind is made up I gotta find a girl to make my breath stop who can make my worl' drop..."

YouTube Comments

"He was deported from Armenia.....for singing"
"He sings like he has a gun pointed to his head"
"I think HE is tha sweetest princess"

Oh, Florence, you need to go back to the [Machine] board

I like the imagery in Florence and The Machine's new official video for 'Dog Days'. I just don't like it for THIS song. I didn't think the first video was all that special either but it's earthy/maniac theme was a lil more appropriate for what I still think is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a LONG time. You know what - when they used this song as the Slumdog Millionaire premiere advert on Film4 the scenes from the film went really well with the song. I can't find the advert at the moment but I'm sure you can imagine that it was better than this.....

*Sorry mum, but I think I'm about to go back to the risky roads....*

The Justin Bieber plan...

Even though I am absolutely terrified by the tsunami that is the Justin Bieber craze, if I was a 14-year old with no one to draw hearts around but some of the latest starlets to be spat out at me from the generic Disney/Twilight machines....I would probably fall for [or be tricked by] Bieber's cocky [illuminati] charm coz this video on YouTube's homepage ACTUALLY made me laugh a lil.... [that's what 'they' want...'they' want me to laugh...then buy...then laugh...then cry...then scream...then pull my hair out...cry some more...then chase his car after his concerts...then get knocked down 'accidentally'....they're out to get us!!!!!]

BeyGaga 'Telephone' videoshoot!!

I know some of you guys are waiting for the next BeyGaga video, 'Telephone', so here are some pics from behind the scenes.... The video apparently features Tyrese, Cholas (ghetto latina chicks, for those who don't know watch Fergie's videos and you will see her backing dancers are dressed as Cholas), bodybuilders, other crazy stuff and is centered around Beyonce busting Gaga out of jail before the go for a spin in Uma Thurma's ride from the Kill Bill movie which Quentin Tarantino let them borrow especially for the shoot.

Oh and I saw this video of Verka Serduchka, the Ukrainian Eurovision Song Contest 2007 entry, over the weekend and I was immediately wondering if Lady Gaga was ever inspired by this polka-techno madness before she appeared on our screens....

*Kara'o'ke* sings "...stop telephoning meee-eeeeeh"

"...Independent queen working for her throne...."

I know it's old but this song is still on point! It's a shame I couldn't make it to the video shoot though....especially as the song is about me.... :P

On the subject of Jamie Foxx.....I love his song, 'VIP', so much...it's such an underrated slow-jam....I could listen to this all day....

Why.....just, why...?

I do not like Ed Hardy. Everyone else does. I don't. I could go on and on about how much I do not like the juxtaposition of ferocity and diamonte logos etc but I won't. My annoyance needs its own post [I don't want to do it now because I'm about to watch Jake - whoops - I meant to say 'Jarhead'... :)]. Whilst watching a video of Dizzee Rascal fall off stage [it's not that funny....I would have posted it if it was], I came across this video of 'The Ed Hardy Song'....I thought it was going to be a joke......it is....but the people who made it are very serious. I actually feel sorry for that Audigier guy [did I spell it wrong- oh well]......the 'urban' kids are gonna rinse this brand like they did with Iceberg History. This 'song' [lol] may cause Audigier to do a Hilfiger on us soon. If you know what I mean! I shall leave you to listen at your own risk.....

Another day.....another dollar[less]

Me and my friend went out shopping today [Oh?....what a surprise, Kara...] and decided to go all over Camden town and West End. This is like my third time around those ends in the past few days - NOT GOOD - I'm already struggling to lower my spending....it's like throwing a rabbit in front of race dogs....they can't help but to run dammit!
Luckily, I only bought three things [I think] , an orange dress and men's shirt from Primark and some sunglasses from Aldo [whoops - forgot to take a pic of me in those.....back in a jiffy.....]
Okay my skin is overly-oily today [like most days haha] and I'm sorry if the beam from my forehead interrupts your daily routine.....

Sunglasses - £9
Shirt - £7
Dress - £5 [Bargain Bob!]

I think that I did quite well ....luckily the £70 shoes I picked up in Zara didn't leave the shop with me.......and these £35 pound Blue Suede are coming home with me very soon....

I'm so sick of the shops making blue suede shoes.....it's personal now because my penchant for soft blues and furry shoes is being abused! ABUSED! It's like these shops KNOW I like blue suede so they make the shoes in this colour or black......I've already got a pair of black suede heels.....NEXT....damn...those blue suede fringed sandals I bought - I still ain't posted em up yet have I?! My room needs sorting out tommorow so I will post those and my other bits I got last week... [I'm currently torn between watching Scrubs and the Finland entry on the Eurovision Song Contest....both are extremely funny......one, more so than the other....]

Talking about sunglasses made this song pop into my head......I love the strings and the lil dance in the beginning......even though Mark Ronson's 'Ooo Wee' rinsed the hell outta this track, it's still good.....

Random: Lady Gaga's 'PokerFace' was on the radio and that part where she goes 'p-p-p-poker face (m-m-m-more)...' made my Mum go, "Hey - she stole the adlibs from a Boney M song......don't you remember?", [as if me and her grew up back in the day haha]. Here is that Boney M track.... and at 0:50secs you will here the m-m-m-more bit....

*I am* Going off Chicken flavoured Super Noodles coz I've eaten them for too long and Proper switching to Scrubs because I can see someone is about to play an accordion on the Song Contest......

ARGH! and Music

That was freaky like stripper fridays.....I forgot I left the TV on downstairs and all of a sudden I heard some man talking.......my heart actually fainted for a second! Wow!

So my room is really disgusting right about now but I'm too busy to tidy it and my brain is clouded with mixed paths.....I dunno but I don't ......or do I....no.....okay I think I wanna do another course in Journalism to get some free money to keep me afloat or I will end up spending all my dough......I might aswell......or maybe not......I'm gonna get cussed for writing this useless rant [errrr...this isn't a rant....so what is this.....it can't be an 'idea'....that sounds to self-indulgent......rants are kinda like offloading somethin' that just has to be told or you're gonna go nuts.....this is SOOOO not that.....okay I'm sorry for my twitter-esque personal drivel...moving on swiftly...]

I heard this song the other day and I'm very sure there was a remix that I really liked....I can't remember/find it.....but dahwell! The song is depressingly catchy - I think the remix was either Jungle/Trance/Some other crazy 90's type genre.......if anyone has it, please send it!!!!!

I love this remix.......such a good linkage......I'll probably post this again in the near future coz I love it that much!

Okay - random music vid - but this video makes me laugh....I dunno why but I have a weird reaction to certain things are not supposed to be funny [tap dancers are hilarious....especially really old male tappers...too funny!]. I instantly laughed at this video but it's not supposed to be 'haha' funny....I recognise that it's a 'smile/not actually funny'.....but I can't help ma body now can I!

YouTube Flash: Beyonce 'Videophone' Dance

Apparently, some of the dancers in this video are from Beyonce's tour so it's not just any old dancers on road. I thought it was a well made fan video but obviously Bee's dancers must really like this song to do a unofficial video for it!

Oh and AMBER ROSE makes an appearance in shades, a tutu and those red leggings, again!

Enjoy...

First Joaquin, now John...hmmm...

With people like Joaquin Phoenix jumping on the Hip Hop train, you could say that rap is free for all to board. No tickets are needed, just the courage to board the train. One person who kinda has a ticket, and isn't using it, is John Mayer. John Mayer - the singer....the dude who keeps dumping Jennifer Aniston and taking her back...no? Well, he wins Grammys and makes 'easy listening' hits so I'm sure he doesn't know who your ass is either! Anyways, he's a funny guy. Oh and if you haven't seen this video of him working in the studio with Kanye West, you're three years late as to why he has this imaginary hip hop boarding pass.

Today, whilst frequenting that MyTube I came across this video of him making a beat on an MPC and acting silly whilst kinda taking the biscuit out of Kanye's style, in a nice way. Either way, the beat sounds alright to me so I wouldn't mind if he did a 'Phoenix'. I'm sure Kanye would back it too!

P.S. ....It seems he is using the exact MPC I have..just thought I'd mention that....haha

Wasted:Gorilla Zoe 'Lost' Video

Okay, so the track starts and before the beat drops you'll be like, 'G'yeaaaaah we about to crunked UP!'

....Gorilla Zoe starts to rap:
"Walking a-round....looking for a way....no one tells me which way to go...."
I'm like, 'WHAT THE?!?!? Golly-gosh, his flow is amazingly WHACK! Bruv! My eyesight is perfectly fine so why is he giving me an audio description of the video? This rap-talk is sounding like he's got Vick's rubbed all over his face!?! ....Never a good look.'

Gorilla Zoe seriously flopped on this one so lowering my 'skank arms', I regain my composure. My face instantly screws up as I try to understand the mindset one must have to rap like an idiot in public. [That's it - he sounds like that Reh Dogg guy on YouTube!] Anyway, as I scan the obligatory entourage walking with him, I see a familiar face. Breathing down his Zoe's neck is another gorilla, Rick Ross. A-ha....now that explains it! I'm watching a WR convention (Whack Rappers).

I think the title of this song explains the plot he once had. However, a lot of people are feeling this track in the US... I'm not. You might. Watch and decide if you like it....

And this is what Gorilla Zoe's video reminds me of.....the world famous, Reh Dogg...

New Music: 50 Cent 'Shut Your...'

I love when US rappers do the whole Patois thing and start claiming that their ancestors were Jamaican when people are puzzled by it. Busta Rhymes sounded kinda lame whenever he dropped the Yardie bars (and I doubt he'll brave that again...I hope). When 50 Cent dropped the word 'bloodcl**t' in 'I Get Money' the only thing I could do was laugh at how poor it sounded! It fell flatter than Beyonce's tumble down the stairs! Even though that memorable bar was supposed to incite a pandemonium and fear, he got zero ratings and everyone shook a leg without a care to the nonsense this guys spits. But why do we dance along to 50 Cent's music....his beats. Club bangers and car bangers are his forte so he excels in that sense. Beefing wasn't his forte, (please refer to the Cam'ron 'Curtis' era), however, he is stepping up his dissbacks (Rick Ross ain't a boss no mo'!).

50 teamed up with DJ Premier for his new track, 'Shut Your Bloodcl**t Mouth' which I must say has a nice beat, I mean c'mon, it's a product of Premo! In regards to this, why is DJ Premier giving this clown good beats....50 is not in the Hip Hop game for the love of rap...he blatantly tells us in every song he does that he is all about the money.

'Hate It Or Love It' was my lyrical highlight for 50. Although I will be honest and admit that I haven't wasted any more time getting to know his unreleased tracks, please enlighten me if there are other rap gems that top the honesty he expressed so poetically when him and the Game teamed up.

Good Points: The beat is NICE!!

Bad Points: The Ja-fake-an chorus and him talking 'smack' as ususal....boring....and most of his rapping is inaudible due to permanent lockjaw

New Music: Lil' Mama ft. Fanny Pack 'Truly in Love'

If you watch America's Best Dance Crew 2 on MTV, I'm sure you are very familiar with Fanny Pack. Personally, I like the show but I cannot STAND the way Lil' Mama cuts everyone up when they are talking. It's quite distgusting to watch as she is much younger and inexperienced compared to JC Chasez and the black guy who wears the same outfit in every episode - in a different colour. The guys are both clearly much older than her but for some reason MTV must think she's a star judge since she is always in the middle. Anyway, I could go on and on about her showing a lack of respect for dance veterans and the forced presenting from the Saved By the Bell dude but I shall move on.

I do not know who the winners of this season are and I do not want to know either. I hate people spoiling it for me and I don't wanna know more so I haven't researched this video any further than I should have! However, this video that has just been released might be good enough evidence to predict that Fanny Pack did quite well. Either that or Lil' Mama is taking them out on a pity date. Aside from that, Miss Bow Wow in a Wig has decided that it's time to pull a Kanye and jump on the T-Pain vocoder flex. YES, she is SINGING!!!Jamie Foxx once said:"...Hardcore rapper but he's glossy..." Hmmm...I think this may link to Lil' Mama's weak rep as a hoodchick cos its waning a little, well I never bought it when she danced around singing about makeup on her debut. Oh yeah, a member of the Fanny Pack made my ears bleed with his adlibs nearer the end of the clip....don't worry - you will know when you hear it! It annoys me cos he's the best looking one.....WHY DID YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH???? You've ruined it now.

Good points: The dancing in the second verse

Low points: Lil' Mama dancing with the bank clerk and the Fanny Pack dude's WEAK adlibs killed it

Flashback: British R'n'B

Anyone who has had the privilege of living with me (haha) can tell you I spend an excessive amount of time on the Internet...okay, I admit it - I'm a YouTube fanatic... I can't help it!!! I remember being one of the first to find YouTube when I was in high school and encouraging (or educating) others on the good videos to watch videos in IT class. I knew it would come in handy one day....I do a YouTube chart for SuperSuper magazine now LOL!
A few weeks ago, I went through a high school phase where I watched YouTube videos from my SATS/GCSE days. If you remember the music around 1999-2004, then you will know some of it is quality stuff although, mostly cheesy! Anyway, MTV has started a 'Best of British' week and as I am on a holiday from Uni (or at least I think I am ...if not, I have upped my total of missed lectures) I enjoyed an afternoon watching British R'n'B that reminded me of school. Most of it was from this era because British R'n'B was 'cool' back then.

Here are some that I thought might trigger some memories...

Note: One thing I noticed was that some of these videos had a better budget than the BUDGET channel U type videos that are churned out every milli-second....
