Brit Awards 2010

I know I'm late with this [I'm ill :( ]but ohhhh the bore that was the Brit awards. It really is the biggest music awards show in Britain but it really is rubbish. When I was younger, the Brits was more controversial and more entertaining than Liam Gallagher having a twitter tiff with Peter Kay. C'mon, Liam....Peter Kay? On the subject of past Brits, the Spice Girls deservedly walked off with the Most Memorable Performance of 30 years which featured Ginger Spice in that Union Jack dress wayyyy back in 1997...

Highlights of the night:

Tom Meighan from Kasabian running and slipping on to his ass because he was so excited to collect his award from Idris Elba (Stringer Bell from The Wire). And no, I wasn't laughing at him, I was laughing with him because I woulda done the SAME thing lol!

Can you believe that IDRIS ELBA himself came to my workplace a few days before the Brits!! He was walking around upstairs and talking to one of my friends whilst me and the other girls worked away downstairs!?!?!? I haven't told one of my friends cos I know she will beat me up for being NEAR him. However, I will tell her I too was shocked and equally upset considering one of the guys came and told us when Ricky Butcher from Eastenders was in the shop earlier that day. LOL!

Dizzee Rascal doing some random skank while Fearne Cotton [and her terrible hair extensions] were interviewing him. You can take a guy outta the roads but you can't take the road outta the guy.

JLS *teen girl screeeeaaaaaam* winning two awards made me smile because people always laugh when I say they are my guilty pleasure. Well who's laughing NOW??!?!? [....I know, I know.....I will still get laughed at...]. And can someone tell Oritse his 'I can't believe it' face and victory dances makes me cringe.

Robbie Williams' medley was really good! I've always liked Robbie and Take That since I was little - good old catchy pop songs, charm and charisma is definitely Robbie's niche...this is how you entertain....

Low points of the night:

Lady Gaga's self indulgent performance. I know that artists should be free to express themselves [blah blah] but just imagine if you had booked Michael Jackson to perform at an awards ceremony and he sings 'Ben' from his stool. Not that you don't like 'Ben', it's just that you'd rather see him do 'Billie Jean'. You see what I'm getting at?

Lily Allen opened the show. Why? Then she went on to pick up the gong for Best Britsh Female Solo Artist. Really? Okay LOL!!!! She accepted the award wearing a huge ginger wig [just a tad smaller than her ego] and said she did so because she didn't want the camera to be able to find her and show her disappointed face when she lost an award. I didn't buy it and I don't think the audience did either.

Dizzee Rascal and Florence & the Machine's Gri/ndie duet sounded nice on paper....let us all be honest - as much as you wanted it to be great, it wasn't. [Ohhh, LMAO, talking of bad duets, did anyone see Meatloaf perform on Popstar to Operastar....my ears bled for mercy.]

REALLY Low points of the night:

Cheryl Cole trying it!!!! ARGHHHHH she annoys meeeeee!!! Someone needs to tattoo 'I AM NOT BEYONCE' on her forehead because I think she is starting to believe she's Jigga's boo. Boo...YOU AINT his boo and your own boo don't want YOU!!!!! Her performance was whack and I was soooooo hoping she would take a trip down the stairs as she had already copied Bey's outfit and stage set from that infamous 'Ring The Alarm tumble'. Her miming was atrocious and so was the house mashup with Robin's 'Show Me Love'. Just stop.

The 52nd Grammy's Winners and Performances!!

Yesterday, the music world was in full in effect at the Grammy's with ridiculous nominees (if the Hip Hop nominees were anything to go by...Hip Hop really IS dead], shocking hair, and record breaking wins.

Here is my quick round up of winners and some performances...I'll clean it up later ;) :

Album of the Year: Fearless — Taylor Swift [Why???....they don't even play any of her songs in the UK....even Lady Gaga's album is more worthy]

Song of the Year: Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) - Beyonce [Song of the year, anthem of the year, dance of the year.....dance of the decade....best combination of cinematography and choreography this year....lol...you can tell I love this song :)]

Beyonce won a record SIX awards which is more than her own record that she shares with Lauryn Hill for most wins for a female in one night.

She now has....wait for it....SIXTEEN GRAMMYS. I think she had a preminition about multiple awards....remember this scene from the 'Diva' video...we all know those were supposed to be life-size OSCARS not Grammys but a suitable pic for the occasion ....

This is Bey doing her 'If I were a Boy' medley at yesterday's awards. I liked her marching bit...the rest, is a copy of what she did when I saw her concert in November last year so it's not amazing. She still owned the stage though.

Best Solo Rock Performance: Working on a Dream — Bruce Springsteen [my mum likes him so she'll be happy to hear he's still relevant haha!]

Record of the Year: Use Somebody — Kings of Leon

Best Country Album: Fearless — Taylor Swift [If you're a country music fan, please lemme know the deal...is Swift really THAT chick???]

Best Rock Album: 21st Century Breakdown — Green Day

Best Hard Rock Performance: War Machine — AC/DC

Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals: Use Somebody — Kings of Leon [Their album was played EVERYDAY when I was in Portugal last year because Miss Lazy and Confused was over-obsessed with them...we got dressed to them....went to sleep to them...blasted their songs on the beach to the anger and joy of the public....good times!]

Best Rap/Sung Collaboration: Run This Town — Jay-Z, Rihanna & Kanye West [In my opinion, if 'Jizz In My Pants' was a collabo Lonely Island would have won.]

Here's a video of Rhianna and Jay accepting the award with Solange's son Jules....who is not that bothered when Rhianna tries to act all cute and pick him up...

Best Female Pop Vocal Performance: Halo — Beyonce

Best New Artist: Zac Brown Band [this band was being championed by Common on the red carpet live show on E! then when I looked the band up and they both revealed they will work with each other this year....then I found this video ....]

Best Electronic/Dance Album: The Fame — Lady Gaga
Best Dance Recording: Poker Face — Lady Gaga

Here is Lady Gaga performing with Queen John of Elton....

Best Alternative Music Album: Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix — Phoenix

Best Contemporary R&B Album: I Am… Sasha Fierce — Beyonce
[Don't hate...cos it was. Not best traditional R'n'B / Neo-soul album...best commercial R'n'B album last year was Beyonce's]

Best Female R&B Vocal Performance: Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) — Beyonce [Erm!! WHAT!!! Jazmine Sullivan was robbed. Her vocals in general are just toooooo SICK so 'Lions and Tigers and Bears' was clearly snubbed.]

Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals: I Gotta Feeling — The Black Eyed Peas [This song needs to stop]

Best Rock Song: Use Somebody — Kings Of Leon

Best Pop Vocal Album: The E.N.D — The Black Eyed Peas

Best Male R&B Vocal Performance: Pretty Wings — Maxwell
[This was one of the best songs of the year...just goes to show that you can make a good comeback...unlike Eminem....I'm still waiting for him to 'spit hot fiyah'].

Here is Maxwell performing that lovely song with Roberta Flack...

Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals: Blame It — Jamie Foxx & T-Pain [This should have gone to the vococder program that T.Pain always uses....]

Here they are performing with Doug E. Fresh and Slash...

Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance: At Last — Beyonce [...yea...it kinda was wasn't it!...damn, Bey...if I was a hater, I would really be mad right about now!]

Best Rock Instrumental Performance: A Day in the Life — Jeff Beck

Best Urban/Alternative Performance: Pearls — India.Arie & Dobet Gnahore [I haven't heard this...gotta admit I kinda forgot about her for a hot minute.]

Best R&B Song: Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) — Beyonce [What can you say...]

Best Rap Solo Performance: D.O.A (Death Of Auto-Tune) — Jay-Z [PURE TRASHHHHH!!!! This song was soooooo dead when it came out it I thought D.O.A really DID stand for Dead On Arrival....just cos you got a few horns don't call it a comeback. GOback.]

Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group: Crack a Bottle — Eminem, Dr. Dre & 50 Cent [Yawn.]

Best Rap Song: Run This Town — Jay-Z, Rihanna & Kanye West [Thanks to the judges, yet again Rhianna THINKS she can call herself a grammy winning singer just cos she let out a few bone-chilling noises on someone elses track]

This song is better.....Lil Wayne, Drake and Travis [MARRY MEEEEEE] Barker performing a medley... oh and you are warned...MAJOR CRINGE FACTOR courtesy of Quentin Tarantino's attempt to sound Hood sounding like Robert Downey JR's character from Tropic Thunder...

Best Rap Album: Relapse — Eminem [sorry I kinda relapsed myself]

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance: Make It Mine — Jason Mraz

Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals: Lucky — Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat

Best Female Country Vocal Performance: White Horse — Taylor Swift

Best Male Country Vocal Performance: Sweet Thing — Keith Urban

Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album:— Michael Buble Meets Madison Square Garden — Michael Buble [I LOOOOOOOOOOVE this dude....ever since I heard his song 'Home'....perfect song to drive to...or in my case, passenger ride to!]

Best Metal Performance: Dissident Aggressor — Judas Priest

Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals: I Run to You — Lady Antebellum [dunno who she is but that is one crazy name]

Best Country Collaboration With Vocals: I Told You So — Carrie Underwood & Randy Travis

Best Country Song: White Horse — Taylor Swift (songwriters: Liz Rose & Taylor Swift)

Best Americana Album:Electric Dirt — Levon Helm

Best Contemporary Blues Album: Already Free — The Derek Trucks Band

Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media: Slumdog Millionaire — Various Artists and A R Rahman (producer) [I feel so rubbish...I STILL haven't seen this film :((((( I kept missing opportunities to go see it ;'( ]
Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media: Jai Ho (From Slumdog Millionaire [I may not have seen it but this song is a CHOOOON]

Best Recording Package: Everything That Happens Will Happen Today — David Byrne & Brian Eno

Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package: Neil Young 'Archives Vol. I'

Best Short Form Music Video: Boom Boom Pow — The Black Eyed Peas [This could have been a typo for the WORST short form music video this year]

Best Long Form Music Video: The Beatles Love – All Together Now — (Various Artists) [Paul is the only person I know who shamelessly exploits his OWN music to the max ...have some self-respect man...appearing on X Factor and allsorts...smh]

Best Comedy Album: A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All! — Stephen Colbert [Best comedy album - Rated R]

The show featured a special Michael Jackson Tribute with Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion and Smokey Robinson followed by a few words from MJ's kids and his nephews...remember 3T...BOYYYY they have changed....

Mary J Blige also peformed on the night with opera royalty, Andrea Bocelli, for Haiti which was nice....

Pink as usual brought the circus with her...this time she wore her birthday suit....

Lady Gaga looked soooo pretty when she arrived but her cheap yellow pee-pee hair ruined the look....it doesn't matter if you're wearing an armani dress - I have NEVER seen anyone pull this look off in my entire life.....pee-pee hair and porcelain doll skin doesn't even look good on the angriest, unorthodox of punks....then you have the nerve to wear a white dress and silver shoes??? FAIL! Why!? Then when she switched it up and gave us a Marylin Manson-lookin-Bowie-fail.

I will clean this post up later....

*Kara* thinks Ciara is starting to look like that Olivia-suck-the-fun-out-of-everything-gives-me-cheekbones-girl from The City

Awards: The BRITS 2009

Pics will come later if they are worthy enough but I'm just writing this as I watch so bear with my longness.....

First off I thought KYLIE was muggin' me off with a performance of 'Can't Get You Outta My Head', then I saw that it was a comedic entrance for those guys off that programme

U2
...recycled visuals from the grammys and Bono in guyliner

KATY PERRY in a sparkly corset adorned with chains and Hello Kitty

FEARNE COTTON ...huh? Is this an award show or Smile?? This is one thing that annoys me with the BRITS ....they insist on interacting with people at home!!! Stop it!! Act like the Grammys and make us feel like complete outsiders who are of no use to the rich and glamourous....maybe it will look less tacky.....wait a minute...Fearne is presenting outside a caravan...oooookayyy...

GIRLS ALOUD
......or...GIRLS [who shouldn't be]ALOUD[to sing]....why did they spend all that time covering up their dresses when, by way of the camera angles, we still saw their 'spectacular' nude coloured dresses - BAIT!!! And they CANNOT sing (except for Nadine Coyle) so why did they decide it was a good idea to have just their heads on show for most of the performance.....we only watch you turnips because of your outfits....which are not even all that most of the time

The mastercard advert with that woman singing one of my favourite chooons!!! This is the performance to beat tonight....

I like the black and cobalt blue suit the presenting dude is rockin' (what is his NAME??!?!)

THE LAST OF THE SHADOW PUPPETS
missed out on the award for (whoops missed it lol) but they are sick so they don't need it...Duffy wins and says, 'Oh gosh - I'm starting to recognise your faces', to the audience....ERM don't get excited Duffy...you've only been up there twice bruv....

COLDPLAY perform Viva la Vida.....although it is overplayed....this is one of the best songs from them in ages......Chris Martin dancing - he doesn't know this but he is doing the Shoulder Lean at the moment haha!! Brap, brap!!

[The camera freezes during the show on this random bearded guy...creepy]

NATALIE IMBRUGLIA presents......her face is too hot so I missed what award she is giving away...but Kings of Leon won.....they thank God....bless 'em!

DUFFY sings Warwick Avenue....her red dress is a little dry....what a beautiful set....my Mum loves all things art deco so I'm sure she will love this too...the orchestra backing her is sooo yummy

Mastercard woman is back again wooooo lol.....wait - she's exposing my much loved song....they need to lay off rinsing the advert now.....

TAKE THAT....now don't front.....you know you know all the words to their songs too.....they perform on a really cool floating spaceship type podium....very effective....

DAVID HASSLEHOFF passes tru to hand out awards....he's still THAT GUY

KINGS OF LEON perform the 'Use Somebody'.....the lead guy's voice kinda reminds me of Curtis Stiger sometimes...

KANYE WEST wins Best international Male and says a bunch of crap that was enough to distract me from the annoying Lionel Richie steez. They both like talking about themselves though....I heard a radio interview with Richie yesterday and woke up in an even deeper sleep...

THE TING TINGS & ESTELLE .....OH NO SHE DIDN'T!!! She blatantly stole Kanye's blazer from the Grammys!!!!!!! THIEF!!! HOW DARE SHE!!! I'm peeking through my hands as I cringe at both vocalists fighting to further their 20 minutes of fame...

GIRLS ALOUD won their first BRIT ever for Best Single....hmmm....

TOM JONES! Wow...he really has left the hair dye at home!!! He presents DUFFY with her third BRIT for Best British Album.....she deserves it though

BRANDON FLOWERS still big pimpin' with that feathered shoulders blazer....I need to raid his wardrobe...his jackets are always on point! He gives a personal, heart-warming account whilst intorducing this year's Outstanding Contribution to music winners, the PET SHOP BOYS

PET SHOP BOYS (one of the many groups I thought I grew up with when I was younger...not knowing there stuff was before my time lol! They perform a medley....my Mum continues to sing louder than them, whilst going on about how good they are...LADY GAGA passes tru to sing with them looking sick in an outfit reminiscent of a fine china set....BRANDON FLOWERS....does a quick bar or two with 'em to complete his childhood dream...when they all sing together my ears bleed....by Brandon's expression and 'side-eye' looks, I think he blames Lady Gaga for a terrible harmony....

THE END....apple crumble and custard time....
