Music Picks: Kylie Minogue 'Get Outta My Way'

I saw this video the other day and thought to myself, "...Hmmm...Kylie's still doing her thing". Considering that Lady Gaga has taken over the dancey-euro-pop-box it's quite hard for people to release music/videos without looking a sort of lacklustre in comparison to Gaga's material. However, when watching this video, it felt nice to know that even though Kylie hasn't done anything that different with her music....or hair...or clothes...I feel that she can still hold her own. A lot of female Pop artists have tried to take on a few Gaga-like clothes etc but Kylie proves it's best to just stay in your lane and do you....

The song is cute, she looks good considering all the drama she's been through and I love videos that use lots of light effects....check JayZ 'Jigga What Jigga Who'...dunno why but that first sprang to my mind LOL!

Oh and watch out for her lighty-uppy gloves...which I love.....and the rope chain dress.....very nice...reminds me of Beyonce but whatever :)

The day was a lot of crazy fun from start to finish!! The best part is that all of this fun was FREE!!!! Free entry [even though all the tickets sold out in 1 MINUTE, FlyGirlJoJo got Diplo to put us on his guestlist haha which was very nice of him to do for us indeed;)] free/unlimited drinks and food [which by the way was choooong....their potato and bean salad was on point...]! Free Free FREEEEE!!Oh and I got a free T-Shirt which, if you watched the videos, were being printed backstage during the day so it was like a sweatshop behind the decks and a sweatbox in front of 'em! I got a free vinyl but someone took it ....dahwell!!! Anyways, BIG THANKS to Diplo and the Red Bull Music Academy! And to all the DJs on the day who made the freeness even sweeter...this was the line up....

Douster - Electrinic carnival vibes to welcome everybody as the doors opened
Sticky - Lots of old skool garage that made us sweat our hair out way too early haha

Poirier - They played soca....and everybody knows how energetic soca is so this set got the blood pumping and every mouth gasping for air

Drop The Lime - Dropped a rockabilly set on an unsuspecting crowd which quickly turned into a party scene from Happy Days! Luca was our Fonzie!

Joker - Dubstep madness!!! Lots of pogo stick jumping from the crowd

Rodigan - Reggae, jungle and more vibes that were seriously crazy...especially when he dropped Newham Generals!

Major Lazer - Diplo, Switch, Skerrit Bwoy and dancers who climbed on everything and everyone to miami bass drums, house, dancehall and dubstep choooons

Here is a clip from David Rodigan's set....this man dances more than he DJs! He never stands still!! This video best captures the carnival vibes without the slick transitions and editing...just raw vibes ;)

Then straight after eight hours of that madness we ventured back out on to the absolutely wrecked streets of Notting Hill....I can't stand litter so trying to tiptoe around smelly mass mountains of trash is always fun :)

...then we went to The Count and Sinden Carnival afterparty for about two pounds LOL!! Yep another good deal haha! It had already started way before we got there but we did get to hear sets from A-Trak, Jamie XX, Martelo and Bashy .....we met Luca aka Drop The Lime too who was really cool...

....after all of that, we left and went to the chicken shop...and that's where the party ended...in our mouths ;D

Finders', Keepers.Losers'....er...a girl with good taste and a bad memory?

Last week, I had this mad craving for a cheap looking arcade machine ring. I couldn't find one so I gave up. THEN...this happened....

While I was at the Major Lazer carnival party, I found, what I have now named, 'THE heart of glass' ring!!! Sparkling like that piece of ice the old lady found on the Titanic. Yeaaaaa mayn!! My knuckles is all FROZE and heavy from tha GLOW!!!LOL!

It was with another equally nice ring that some forgetful girl with GREAT TASTE left...but I left that other ring there for some other girl to claim coz it wasn't what I have been looking for and I felt like I would've been greedy to take it haha! For a second, I asked myself, "Did I just steal?", because I never even steal cookies at the self service counter [like every person in Central London!]. However, I didn't feel at all bad.....it's not like there's a 'Lost and Found' shelf at the Carnival, is there!?!?!

I mean, look at it this way, I was among what seemed like hundreds and thousands of scenesters so if I didn't go home with it someone ELSE would have!!

I wasn't letting Miss 'I work for this really cool Fashion PR company that pelts me with freebies 24/7 just coz they are, like, so cool' take MY [someone elses] ring!!!!!!!!!!! Finders' keepers, losers' weepers as they say...[bit harsh, but hey, I didn't coin the phrase lol!]

Chromeo Lovin' Oh oh O-oh!

Chromeo-oooo-o!

A month or so back, [summer has been a haze], I was eating a HUGEEE roast dinner when I got a phone call saying someone had an extra ticket for Chromeo's show at the CAMP in East London! I was literally wheezing from the amount of food I had but I got myself ready QUICK- I wasn't missing Chromeo because of a chicken leg!!!

Of course, it was sick as usual [it was my 2nd time seeing them], the girls were loving it....and the grown men were even more enthusiastic than normal. It's quite funny actually - the sight of men at least 30yrs and above clambering to get to the front of the show like groupies haha!!!

Later on we met jammed with Dave1 and P-Thugg [who remembered us from their last show....maybe it's coz we are always dolled up in trashy gold ghetto earrings lol] and went to the afterparty which was really fun! They asked US to take a picture so they could post it on their twitter.....and we were like 'errrrr OF COURSE we will take a pic'!?!?!Eighties funk and disco dancing went on til everyone went home...except for us, the DJs, the bar staff and P-Thugg LOL!

Oh and randomly, weeks later......our all singing all dancing diva-extraordinaire, Fatima, showed us this flyer and was like 'Hey look who it is.....'

....a photographer had used a picture of us from the Chromeo gig for their exhibition flyer! Nice!

I was on my way to watch Inception for the SECOND time [LOVE IT] a few weeks back and as I was topping up my oyster card at my station, my eyes wondered along the pavement and I saw this....

The dude in black is unconscious and his friend in red was joining him in what he thinks is a 'nap'. I call it death. The other bums were trying to sell me tickets. Then I thought, "...maybe they take it in turns to do each others ticket selling shifts...".

Two Hoodrats and One Road.....to musical hell

I had to do a post on the YouTube hit, 'It's So Cold in The D'.....long overdue but I already started writing it up a while ago lol!

OKAY...some hood looking chick from the D (Detroit, Michigan) released a tribute song about a friend who was murdered - you get the picture......the rest is viral history!!!

The fact that she was willing to embarass herself just to make this tribute song

The 90's vibe of the beat and the hand gestures/dances are all reminiscent of a, dare I say it, erm SWV/Aaliyah videee...oooo?? No?...Or was that just me who felt that? Moving on....

CONS

She can't even double up her OWN vocals in time?!?!Her adlibs and ev-er-y-thing are just all over the place.It sounds like two people trying to rap along to a Twista song at a karaoke night....but they are not in the same time zones.

Her shocking disregard for 1) her skin against THAT hair colour, 2) rhythm 3) English grammar ["It's so caaaaald in the D! How the $%*& do we s'pose to keep peace..."] and 4) general decorum. Decorum, daaarling. Decorum. YES, your loved one died but do you have to swear so much?!?!? And stay IN TIME! The least you can do is let your friend rest in peace....I'd be turning in my grave if anyone EVER used my death as an excuse for this nonsense.

The backing dancers/homegirls look like they don't really care who died, [or who their babydaddy is]. They look bored or even slightly annoyed.... like the video took longer than expected and T-Baby was holding them back from their double date at Burger King.

Now, Shardinay.

Suprisingly, some people in London STILL haven't seen this video!?!?! Which is crazy to believe seen as her video 'blew up' so quickly when it hit the net that she performed at a club in central London the following week! Even I was going to witness the wackness in full effect! THAT'S how big the Shardinay was in tha endz lol! When I first saw this video I refused to believe it was anything short of a parody video because it was so cringeworthy but as her horrible Mariah s-Carey vocals prove, she REALLY thinks she can sing?!?!

The first 'note' that escapes her mouth

The sudden tempo change of the beat is CLASSIC! It sounds like a really bad attempt to emulate an early Destiny's Child track or that the producer was inspired by someone emptying their dishwasher down a flight of stairs. Probably the latter.

The rapper Mani7esto's adlibs, weak verse and clothing. Both the Lonsdale and Ecko UNLTD brands are sooooooooo old skool that I bet even the bummiest of bums would find it hard to wear either brand on a cold winter's night. I can just imagine them faced with the dilemma...... "Lonsdale. Ecko. Or die......hmmm."

The fact that Mani7esto is spelt with a '7'

One of the YouTube comments about Shardinay: "She looks like Diddy Kong's Brother." OUCH.

Her 'choreographer' [HAHAHHAHAHA someone actually thought about these dance moves!!] is called Tipsey....the name speaks for itself...

The dancer on the left in the pink outfit is apparently pregnant! Now, I don't have stomach abs of steel, [I have healthy rings of jelly ;P] but still!!! Watch closely and judge for yourself....

I was going to write hundreds of posts today but I have just finished doing my hair and I've got 5hrs before I have to get up for work.

I haven't written much recently because it's all been in my head while I'm staring into the ceiling at work and floats away when I sit down to type! I have been doing full time hours for the past few weeks and .....erm ....WOW.....I am soooooooo GLAD I never signed a full time contract!!! Sleep deprivation, much? Someone ask me when I last watched EastEnders......I haven't watched my fave soap in.....ahem...a WEEK and a HALF!!!!!SHOCK HORROR....that's about 4hours catch up I have to do before over the next two days before the new episode on Monday!!!

I got loads to say but for now I gotta just talk about today....

I saw this video and instantly started laughing...I hate to do this because I don't think bashy is a bad artist but really.....WHAT THE HECK IS THIS!?!??!? His new music video for 'Fantasy' [which completely MURDERS one of my favourite 90's songs as a lil 'un, Baby D's 'Let Me Be Your Fantasy'] is straight up cheese on bread. The stills of the video on youtube made me laugh but I thought,' maybe they just caught it at a bad angle' ....

Hmmm.....

Then I watched the video [in silence because I was supposed to be working in the office].

After two minutes, I had to stop watching it......I was trying to hold in the laughter SO MUCH that I was literally sweating and losing my breath ....somehow the humour was heightened by the confused looks I was getting and it all became even more funny. Why was I finding this so funny....I know I find the humour in most cheaply made videos but this one actually had me questioning my juvenile behaviour.........is it because he is what we consider a 'rapper from the streets' all 'Castaway' and bare foot in the sand like some toddler at brighton beach? Is it because he is all washed up.....in both senses?? Or is it because his video looks like it's jacking this dude's steez.....

ALL I gotta say is.....how 'bout you GO COMPARE your life bruv!!!! When your music video starts to look like an insurance advert...it is .....a time to reflect.
[And that,folks, is putting it nicely.....the sentence I wrote before REALLY boyed it....and I actually like what Bashy is doing with his life with his acting and that so I ain't gonna do him like that.....it was V.FUNNY though....].

It's now 4am....why am I still on this....now I have 4hrs worth of sleep to bang out....

Radio 1xtra really have been entertaining me these past few days with their UKG Takeover Week, playing all of the classic UK Garage tunes from yesteryear. Yesteryear. Damn. Can you believe those UKG days were a good DECADE ago!!!! Everytime I hear UKG it feels like it was only yesterday that I was wearing my tie 'too short' and passing notes in the classroom whilst drinking Panda Pops when the teacher's back was turned :). This song in particular gives me butterflies....the feeling of nostalgia when I hear this song is ridiculous - it reminds me of the summer when I left behind all my Junior school and Playscheme friends. It was the best and saddest summer holiday ever.....

I'm not hating, Drake is a good artist but I would not, I REPEAT, would not travel from NEW JERSEY to get to NEW YORK CITY to queue up at some crazy time in the early-bird-morning to have his man-of-the-moment ass sign my CD that has songs that I would have probably downloaded already because I am already a fan of Drake. *DAAAAAYUUUUUMMMMMM that John-James guy on Big Brother will not stop talking about Rachel...if you say you HATE her with all your guts, why spend the whole day talking about how much you 'hate' her then find some reason to have some sort of telling off session with her telling her how she needs to stop being bitchy or you won't want to be friends with her....ERM...who are you again???? New Music Video: Kelis '4th Of July (Fireworks)'

I really liked this song the first time I heard it and I immediately thought of a 'strobe lights at night' vibe, the song title sorta means that the video will be a no-brainer. I have only just seen the video so I haven't done the usual research but it looks like it's probably directed by the guys who did 'Acapella'. I made this assumption because it looks like they have used the same wardobe/set/concept......the head-dress and the desert ring any bells, Kelis??? Aside from that I .....erm....I haven't really thought this out but.....errrrr - oh yeah - I would have loved the video if it had had more jittery, chopped up editing [I don't know any technical terms,so work with me people!!], for example, the opening scene in the desert and the end scene where Kelis plays with some sort of light decoration works well with the music. When I heard the song, I expected to be blown away by the amount of energy and imagery thrown at me to contrast with her calm vocals.....daaahhhhwell.

I think the parts where she is singing with a microphone should have been left out - the video follows this whole 'at one with the earth and the elements' vibe but the appearance of a microphone and the Beats by Dre headphones ruins this theme as you can tell that these parts where filmed indoors [YEAH, I know the strobe lights could also be part of this technological line-up but they are not AS obvious...]. To me, it looks like Kelis keep switching between being an enigmatic mirage in the sweltering desert to ANY girl singing at your local karaoke bar. Kelis is not any girl though so I don't like having to type this but I just expect more. MORE, KELIS, MORE!!!!! I love what you're wearing and your makeup etc but I just feel like you could have given us something other than the scenes that were cut from the 'Acapella' video.

Your image is still hot but your videos are starting to look a lil run-of-the-mill. Your better than this....and unless your looking for more money to up your music video game, stop tryna rinse Nas....he ain't Diddy!?!?!?

David Guetta x Bust-A-Mute

Last Saturday, I spent the whole day laughing with my workmates at random YouTube videos so I was in quite a giggly mood. So when me and Miss Sugarwild were walking past a TV screen [eating the best AND cheapest ice cream in central London] we stopped to laugh like maniacs at the David Guetta 'Memories' video. With tears streaming and ice cream dripping down our hands we stood outside the shop laughing like a pair of immature school kids without a care for the the tourists and scene dudes nearby.

We'd seen the video before - so why was it so funny to us this time...? Was my green pistachio ice cream spiked with something else of a green nature? No...it was because there was no sound....

David Guetta, single-handedly, maintains the notion that white people cannot dance. If you watch the 'Memories' video ON MUTE it really emphasises how fresh off the boat Guetta looks and dances as he tries to sponge off Kid Cudi's 'cool'[although Kid Cudi isn't that much of a dancer either].

My favourite parts are Guetta's sly look at Kid Cudi to make sure he didn't notice his weak attempt at the 'butterfly' @ 2:10 and the shoulder shrug skank @ 2:45

Before you watch, remember to BUST-A-MUTE!!!

I like the imagery in Florence and The Machine's new official video for 'Dog Days'. I just don't like it for THIS song. I didn't think the first video was all that special either but it's earthy/maniac theme was a lil more appropriate for what I still think is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a LONG time. You know what - when they used this song as the Slumdog Millionaire premiere advert on Film4 the scenes from the film went really well with the song. I can't find the advert at the moment but I'm sure you can imagine that it was better than this.....

Last year H&M did a silver robotic/armour ring that I wanted last year but couldn't find :(

Last week, whilst getting hairbands, last minute before I went out with my friends, I ran past the jewellery but something pulled me back.....the glint of a LONE armour ring in GOLD!!!!!!GOLD!!!!JUST ONE HANGING OUT WITH SOME RANDOM BRACELETS!?!?!...I snapped it up real quick [although it was an Xtra SMALL!?!?]- asked the sales assistant if it was new to which she replied:

"What is that? Yeah....it's new....more will come, more will come..."

Everyday since then I go in after work - I checked in stores ALL around London...NEW MY ASS!!! ALL the staff in all the stores didn't even know how I got the ring because none of their stores recieved them???!?!? SICK or WHAT....don't answer that...the photo below will do that for you ;) [I have just realised this program is not a 30min affair....it's ONE HOUR...I gotta hit tha sack...].

I haven't been here in a while because I have recently been trying to Get Dis Money and....drum roll....come up with a TRIBAL themed photoshoot as a fashion editor for Catch22 magazine!!!!WOooooOOOOO!!!I love tribal anything so I am VERY excited about doing this shoot!!

So, season two of GLEE started yesterday in the US [and I am yet to go online and watch the first episode because I can't wait for the UK to show it!] but in celebration, here is a SICK video of the ex-Cheerios captain, Sue Sylvester, recreating the iconic 'Vogue' video as a teaser for the upcoming Madonna episode. I did my nails the other day. Then my mum wanted me to cook. I was cool with that. What I wasn't cool with was GRATING ginger into my chicken stew when there was a pack of ground ginger powder in our house. Long story short I ended up grating some of the nail polish off....so I guess I gotta redo 'em!! I took a photo of the neater nails [which somehow always grow quicker than my other hand's nails????] so I could post this up as the last time I did this pattern my nails were really bad haha!!

New Music: TC 'Phone Shop'

Last year, Channel 4 showed a pilot episode of a new comedy, 'Phone Shop', that was so funny I literally forced my workmates to watch it - and they loved it too! The show is funny because it is so much like the phone shops in 'endz'. EVERYONE knows how a phone shop operates and we've all dealt with the stereotypical 'mandem dressed as lamb' sales assistants.

Back to the point.....

On the pilot episode, they used 'Where's My Money (Caspa Remix)' by Drum & Bass DJ/producer TC and as a thank you, TC made 'Phone Shop' using the best and most talked about part of the show.....where Jerwayne raps to a customer!!!

This song is actually the best thing I've heard in ages, you can just imagine some old skool MC saying: "...man needs a piece to check da gyaldem wid.." LOOOOOLLLLL!!!

Wasted: Taio Cruz not putting black women in his videos!?!??!

This story about Taio Cruz is very old but I saw it recently and I think more people should hear about it.

I'm sure you have all seen Taio Cruz's videos before and noticed the absence of black women. However, this is what he said about the constant criticism he gets about the issue:

“I like to put girls in my video that I think are hot....[if] a really hot
black girl came to a casting, she’d be in my video...I think that people even
focusing on the race issue in my videos is a problem. And I would almost react
by NEVER putting black girls in my video, because I’m that type of person –
rebellious. I’d be like, ‘If that’s how you’re gonna be, I’m never gonna put
black girls in my videos."

LOL he is actually a fool...what black girl has ever been in his video for him to say he will NEVER put a black girl in his video??? So he has never seen ONE good looking black girl at his casting....AHAHAHAHA!! I remember he had a video with black girls called 'Moving On' but they were hip hop dancers so I guess most of the white hip hop dancers weren't hot that day then Taio?? Or were white girls shunned so the black girls could be an accessory for the hip hop themed video?? So the white girls weren't hip hop enough that day!?!?! Or am I talking crazy??

The reason why people are questioning his videos is not out of 'hate', it's cos it looks strange. If he was white and ALL the girls in ALL of his video were black you would be like 'What's his game?? Why is he trying so hard to appeal to the urban audience?? [Or you'd think he likes a hot chocolate instead of tea lol]!! It looks like a scam right?

To be honset, I think it could be a marketing scheme - the less black people, the less 'urban' Taio's videos look so he can appeal to a broader audience. Either way, he's not real at all. I saw his 'Break Your Heart' remix video with Ludacris today (which is basically a mix between the old and new scenes they filmed especially for the remix) and while watching it, I noticed something very very interesting. As Ludacris' verse drew nearer, all of a sudden I saw black girls!?!?!

Was this because:

A) Luda usually picks ethnic girls for his videos?

B) The only hot girls that turned up to audition for the remix video were black?

C) Someone noticed Taio Cruz's phobia of black girls and thought it would be funny to watch him squirm?

D) Taio Cruz wants to appeal to Ludacris' black audience?

All these options may sound a little far-fetched but I urge you to remember what his previous videos look like.......then go and watch both versions of the 'Break Your Heart' video and tell me what you think....

I'm not saying it's wrong to have a type- we all have types of guys/girls that we tend to go for but Taio gave some BOGUS reason for favouring milky bars over snickers. Me personally, I don't discriminate, I appreciate!! If you're cute, YOU'RE CUTE...white, black, green, purple, checked etc lol!!

WOOOOOOOO *dizzy spinning*!!! Yesterday, I found out that I got a placement at a magazine!!! It made my day at work go quicker [just about lol] and my mum put together a quick little meal for me to come home to....

I had a roast with stuffing [STUFFING!!! I love stuffing but I hardly ever have it outside of Christmas because it's as exciting as the presents....cringe but I really love stuffing!!] and she baked a beauty of a cake! Although I had a apple & sultana muffin....then a carrot cake for lunch...I proceeded to seek and destroooyyyy this heart-shaped [slightly picked at :O] coconut cake with a hint of lemon.....

If you can't imagine what a coconut cake with a hint of lemon taste like.....DAHWELL!!! LOL! I kinda went crazy as I threw some jelly and custard on to my slice for a makeshift trifle to enjoy my victory dessert to the absolute calorie indulging max!! WOOOO!!!

I also came home to tear the packaging off these vintage heart-shaped Moschino earrings....what I love about these is that the gold peace logo will NEVER EVER go bronze :D another bargain!!*VICTORY DANCE*

Today, I dressed smart. However, I still kept parts of my 'style' using checks, tweeds, black lace, bits of fake snakeskin and gold. Oh and but I had my neon Marc Jacobs bag too lol....! It was different but fun! I didn't know this outfit was hiding in my suitcase of 'give-aways' to my younger friends. Looks like I'm not giving this away after all haha!

The boots I'm wearing [and trying my hardest to get in the shot :S] have a crazy story behind them - long story short, I had Rachie-Pie and her sister stalking these Kurt Geiger boots for me while I was at work on the day they went on sale lol! And with their team effort, I was able to get them....gold chains intact [one KG store tried to sell pair of boots WITHOUT the set of chains!?!?].

The new Jeremy Scott x Adidas collaboration landed smack bang in my lap last week and as I had to sort out the delivery of his new [upsettingly expensive] collection at work I remembered something. I STILL hadn't bought my Jeremy Scott Kente Nizza Hi's to commemorate Ghana's 53rd Independence day last week [whooops :S]!!

Since I went crazy and bought way too many kicks in New York last July, I have only bought...two since then!! Good isn't it? [Obviously, I bought a few shoes but that's not another story...I HAD TO FEED MY ADDICTION TO SUEDE lol!]

So, back at work, I excitedly asked a friend to give me some of her discount [cos mine is LONG GONE :( !!] and I got things on and cracking!!

What was £94.99...I got for £30!! WOOOOOHOOOOO!!! Bargain!! The traditional Kente used matches an authentic purse and crazy pyramid bag I acquired when I visited my family in the yummy sun of Ghana. [I said all of this to please my mother the fact that I'm adding another big ass box to sit on top of all the other boxes but she was VERY happy to see how Adidas was repping Ghana anyways haha! RESULT].I shall take pics of those things and add them so you can see!!

P.S. My friend actually worked with Jeremy Scott HIMSELF for three months in LA and when she tore herself away from LA life she would send us pics of his works in progress!! She said he was really cool...so much so, he even bought her a vintage shirt for her B Day that had her style written all over it! How thoughtful and nice!!

Oh and coincidentally, the day I bought the Nizza Hi's, I had a Jeremy Scott type look going so I upped the ante by dusting off my Minnie Ears and took some self-indulging pics....

FINALLYYYY!!!They really did have us hanging on the telephone with this one. How long has everyone been waiting to see this video??...Well considering we were told they would be doing two videos together about SIX months ago...I'd say...AGES!!!

I don't like moaning all the time but I have to say the video is not as good as I thought it would be. I DO like the video but I think they over-hyped it up to be her best video to date and I think the 'Paparazzi' video was better. I've watched it once and made my decision. Irrational, you say? I think not. I think you may agree with the points I shall make [even though my eyes are rolling back cos I'm THAT tired]...

The use of Tyrese = unnecessary. His scene teamed with Beyonce's outift was the BIGGEST rip off of the 'Paparazzi' video lol...couldn't the director think of anything else besides killing everyone!?!?

Beyonce's lack of dramatic makeup when she picks Gaga up. I know it was an emergency call out but damn Bey!! Where was the 'Single Ladies' make up artist at?? You coulda done with a lil more eyeliner or sumthin...Gaga managed to look FIERCE...and she's been in tha PEN!
It looks like Bey is READING HER SCRIPT at 5.15mins...LOOOL oh my gosh this is so whack....no one drives looking at their lap???!?!?!?

WORST PARTS

Virgin Mobile.....are you serious??

The lack of chemistry :( that upset me cos I like them together but the only time they were cute together was when they ate the sandwich and killed tyrese....everytime they picked up that POOR script, I couldn't help but cringe at how awkward it sounded.

The fierceness was not really there when they were together. Certain scenes would have been better without Bey. Gaga is ususally a quiet ball of FIERCE but in the getaway car she seemed muted. Or tired from the walk to the car.
I think Bey's attempt at being badass came across REALLY wooden..

Gaga's speaking parts - it was almost like she was on general anaesthetic. I think the problem was that when she spoke her tough jailbird character was contradicted by the softly spoken Stefani. Hearing her voice also reminded me of how distant and awkward she is in interviews.

TO END...

The director, Jonas Akerlund, should have remembered that it's quality...not quantity. Too many things happening along with the editing made this video look over done. The editing should have been enough to create the crazy frustrated emotion of the 'why-a-bug-a-boo-sweating-a-diva' anthem. Akerlund did an amazing job capturing the art and fashion of crazy-diva-ness in 'Paparazzi' with the comic theme, lavish locations, neat choreography amongst all the fabulous flapping fabrics surrounding a femme fatale the audience is rooting for.

In 'Telephone' Beyonce tries desperately to take on the same role and instead of looking like she stood up for herself, it looks kinda mean. We only see Tyrese for a hot minute and nit seems as if Akerlund tries to squeeze in traits of a bad boyfriend within those few seconds. It is not enough for me to want him to be killed so when he is poisoned [TWICE] I thought to myself 'a fierce backhanded pimp slap would have done the trick'. WoW! I've been all over the place this week and kinda fell behind my blogging schedule more than I thought I had so I'm a bit shocked....so yeah...unfortunately, I'm back guys ;)

I'm gonna do this quick cos I'm eating fish'n'chips LOL! Talking 'bout food.....here's 'Nandos' by SAS [one of my friends, melle mel, will remember that any tune they had wayyyyy back..."Eu-ro-gang"...the video was *ahem*]. I LOVED this beat the first time I heard Cam'ron and co. so, naturally, I don't really like this freestyle. I know I'm late with this [I'm ill :( ]but ohhhh the bore that was the Brit awards. It really is the biggest music awards show in Britain but it really is rubbish. When I was younger, the Brits was more controversial and more entertaining than Liam Gallagher having a twitter tiff with Peter Kay. C'mon, Liam....Peter Kay? On the subject of past Brits, the Spice Girls deservedly walked off with the Most Memorable Performance of 30 years which featured Ginger Spice in that Union Jack dress wayyyy back in 1997...

Highlights of the night:

Tom Meighan from Kasabian running and slipping on to his ass because he was so excited to collect his award from Idris Elba (Stringer Bell from The Wire). And no, I wasn't laughing at him, I was laughing with him because I woulda done the SAME thing lol!

Can you believe that IDRIS ELBA himself came to my workplace a few days before the Brits!! He was walking around upstairs and talking to one of my friends whilst me and the other girls worked away downstairs!?!?!? I haven't told one of my friends cos I know she will beat me up for being NEAR him. However, I will tell her I too was shocked and equally upset considering one of the guys came and told us when Ricky Butcher from Eastenders was in the shop earlier that day. LOL!

Dizzee Rascal doing some random skank while Fearne Cotton [and her terrible hair extensions] were interviewing him. You can take a guy outta the roads but you can't take the road outta the guy.

JLS *teen girl screeeeaaaaaam* winning two awards made me smile because people always laugh when I say they are my guilty pleasure. Well who's laughing NOW??!?!? [....I know, I know.....I will still get laughed at...]. And can someone tell Oritse his 'I can't believe it' face and victory dances makes me cringe.

Robbie Williams' medley was really good! I've always liked Robbie and Take That since I was little - good old catchy pop songs, charm and charisma is definitely Robbie's niche...this is how you entertain....

Low points of the night:

Lady Gaga's self indulgent performance. I know that artists should be free to express themselves [blah blah] but just imagine if you had booked Michael Jackson to perform at an awards ceremony and he sings 'Ben' from his stool. Not that you don't like 'Ben', it's just that you'd rather see him do 'Billie Jean'. You see what I'm getting at?

Lily Allen opened the show. Why? Then she went on to pick up the gong for Best Britsh Female Solo Artist. Really? Okay LOL!!!! She accepted the award wearing a huge ginger wig [just a tad smaller than her ego] and said she did so because she didn't want the camera to be able to find her and show her disappointed face when she lost an award. I didn't buy it and I don't think the audience did either.

Dizzee Rascal and Florence & the Machine's Gri/ndie duet sounded nice on paper....let us all be honest - as much as you wanted it to be great, it wasn't. [Ohhh, LMAO, talking of bad duets, did anyone see Meatloaf perform on Popstar to Operastar....my ears bled for mercy.]

REALLY Low points of the night:

Cheryl Cole trying it!!!! ARGHHHHH she annoys meeeeee!!! Someone needs to tattoo 'I AM NOT BEYONCE' on her forehead because I think she is starting to believe she's Jigga's boo. Boo...YOU AINT his boo and your own boo don't want YOU!!!!! Her performance was whack and I was soooooo hoping she would take a trip down the stairs as she had already copied Bey's outfit and stage set from that infamous 'Ring The Alarm tumble'. Her miming was atrocious and so was the house mashup with Robin's 'Show Me Love'. Just stop.

I just watched the 'Rude Boy' video and to be honest, I actually really like the visuals [as you can see from the quick lil collage I did just to jazz up the post ;)]. That's it really. I don't like the song at all and I doubt I will watch the video again now that I've got my lil collage to look at LOL! Rihanna can't really dance so the director thought he would go all Andy Warhol on us and use Rihanna like a can of campbell's soup to create movement...

Director's thoughts: "DAYUUMMM!!!This chick can't dance-what am I gonna do...*lightbulb moment*...select all of her tall ass...copy...paste, paste, paste, paste, paste, paste, paste, invert colours, paste left, paste right, paste, paste, paste, flash images, flash, flash, paste...wow...it DID work..."

CONS: When it switches to the monochrome Keith Haring inspired room....I don't like the contrast between green screen backgrounds to 'hot-minute-real-background'. I get the whole change of mood and all but it irks me.

Yesterday, the music world was in full in effect at the Grammy's with ridiculous nominees (if the Hip Hop nominees were anything to go by...Hip Hop really IS dead], shocking hair, and record breaking wins.

Album of the Year: Fearless — Taylor Swift [Why???....they don't even play any of her songs in the UK....even Lady Gaga's album is more worthy]

There have been a LOT of debates about whether Ke$ha [that ANNOYING 'TIK TOK' GIRL] has swagger-jacked Uffie's flow as they both share the same unruly-party-animal vibe with talk-rap child-like chopped-n-screwed vocals samples etc. [phew!..I really did get carried away with the description lol]. Personally, I'm not too bothered by Ke$ha's music, she will jack from those of the underground persuasion [like Uffie], exploit it for the pop masses [with some typical American house party video like something outta Van Wilder] then count the platinum discs. Same ol' same ol'. [We all know that Uffie is not the originator of her style of rap but I don't mind saying Ke$ha is whack muahahahaa!!]

Yesterday, Miss Rinnie and I had A LOT of fun filming a dance video which was entertaining for us and the people who were filming us so I think it turned out pretty damn GOOD! Imagine if Sesame Street had a section where they show the kids a step-by-step [OOoooh babayyyy....sorry...I had a New Kids On The Block moment] on how how to do New Jack Swing moves.....bright 90's visuals and overly enthusiastic presenters.....that was us lol!

Funny story...I had no idea about this Adidas release until the morning it actually happened at my store. If you're a Star Wars fan, the packaging of the trainers like action figurines [half plastic/half cardboard box etc] they are quite sweet but what was even sweeter were the dudes [who I thought were regular customers] that got into Darth Vader and Star Troopers outfits to promote the launch. I was also told they were in the advert for this collaboration....which I didn't see until today...

I can't wait to show my lil brother photos of me with Darth Vader and the Star Troopers cos he's young enough to believe I ACTUALLY met the real deal haha! I'm hoping I get the 'MY OLDER SISTER IS SO COOL' reaction rather than the 'IT'S NOT FAIR' face.

Today, Nike released a new iphone application for sneaker stalkers called True City. I just downloaded it and seems quite good [a lil slow though...and I'm using in-house wi-fi!].
It updates you on releases etc and it has it's own sorta Google map for the scene kids, so it will show you where the nearest restaurants, record shops, bars, sports stadiums and events that a typical Nikehead would go to.

The trailer doesn't really show you much....but that's where the mystery lies....download it and try for yourself!

I like MIA because she's always willing to take risks and release sounds onto us that may not sit comfortably with our ears on the first listen. I have just listened to her track three times in a row and to be honest, I don't like this track that much. I know there are some who like whatever she does because it's MIA approved [this sentence sounds dumb but it makes sense lol]. That's fine. She IS an amazing artist, without a doubt, but I'm looking at the track for what it is an' I don' like deeeess songs misser.

I like the trippy effects in relation to the whole space theme, I once had a space moment and tried to make a beat along those lines so I love this kinda stuff. However, I don't like that you cannot play it loudly because of how brash it gets at times. I like that the dude who worked on this track, Rusko, did something opposite to his usual Dubstep sound as he did Kid Sister's 'Pro Nails' Dubstep remix but after listening to this....I found myself getting a lil ...meh.

I can't wait to hear more stuff from her though!

Along with the other guys I used to live with at uni, we used to have a YouTube session where we would laugh at the WORST rappers/songs 'til we cried ourselves to a near death experience and one of the main perpetrators was Gucci Mane.

Although I didn't mind his song 'Freaky Gurl', I couldn't listen to him without being all toooo aware of how BAD his flow and lyrics were. Especially at his brave rap on Mariah Carey's 'Obsessed Remix'. On the other hand, he does quite well on this song....

Random Fact: Do you know that I have listened to this song every morning for three days straight?

I detect that Gucci has swagger jacked his own terrible lyrics [idiot...like he's repeating words of wisdom lol] from 'Freaky Gurl' in 'Spotlight' but I don't care coz Usher's chorus emphasises how catchy this Polow Da Don beat and takes me to that magical place of ignorant commercial bliss.

Oh and how good does Usher sound on another Polow production, 'Little Freak' featuring the girl whose voice and face I LOVE wayyy too much, Nicki Minaj. If you are wondering why the chorus sounds familiar, it's because Polow did a good job of translating epicness for the Soulja Boy generation by using the Stevie Wonder's classic 'Living For The City'.

I am not there yet but I have been advised to let people hear and see more of what I do and break that fear barrier that is stopping me from progressing!!

Here is one thing I can do, which I plan to further this year with some outside help if anyone is interested ;) ....

Before the end of the year, I did a lil bit of well deserved shopping since I worked like crazy and one of my buys has become a favourite.....you know when you have sumthing that you wanna frame and hang on your wall....well this is it....

There is a funny story behind this jacket....because.....I have a problem with wearing scarlet/cherry/hooker/vamp red. Anything I buy with red on it must be 90% another colour. For instance, ye olde Run DMC t-shirt always has two red lines on it...I'd say it's 93% white....so it passes the red test! Get it? I do this with shoes, nail varnish (deep coral as oppose to red), etc. Well this jacket is officially the ONLY item in my wardrobe that doesn't pass the red test but I had to have it. I am getting over my fear of red, finally!

So, thanks jacket...

Amerie's is back with her new-jack-swag [as in, her new attempts at swagger-jackin]. Heard 'Em All is the second single [the first one was Why R U] from her new album Love and War. The video was directed by Anthony Mandler who obviously has an obsession with the dark as his CV boasts video such as Disturbia and Run This Town. You would have probably noticed this within the first few seconds of the video as the lighting, bad-ass/evil theme, blah blah.

The red-riding hood Amerie 'rocks' in the video is obviously supposed to symbolise danger. How smart! I mean, who would think of that! However, the only danger here is that the tidal wave that is Rihanna will crash down on her weak image and wipe out any chance of succes as the Disturbed singer is planning to release new material soon [great... I can't wait to hear Rihanna's 'will yell for fame' ass ruining good beats].

Now, the song. Yet again, Amerie is screeching in vain like a car horn among millions of other cars in traffic. No one cares and it's not going to get her anywhere. Not to mention, the song is all over the place. The verses are like one bar long before she starts chanting 'hooo-heyy-hooo', then drilling 'keep doin somethin cos something aint been done to me' into us.

Random thing I noticed - During the first verse she's accompanied by what looks like all-black dancers; the second verse she is surrounded by Lady Gaga dopplegangers. Why? Is there a message behind this? I know the Illuminati theorists are usually jump at the chance to analyse stuff like this but I doubt even they consider Amerie's video a 'hot' topic [but then again, it was warm enough for me to write about it!].

Pros: She looks good...but she always does so it's whatever. The beat could be a grower, if you're really desperate and have nothing else to do for the next couple of weeks.

Cons: Her poor attempt at a West-Indian accent in the beginning.

Uninspiring, unexciting, unrelated choreography [what's up with the dancing in her awkwardly, slow breakdown at 3.00mins?].

QUICK ROUND UP- She's pretty and the video is pretty dull. The beat is sassy so single girls will love it because they can point at their friends on the dancefloor and sing about how they don't need a man, their independence etc. Girls who have men will hate the song because it will be a constant reminder of their man's obsession with A's legs. Everyone else will hope that there is a remix.

It's been a busy one, as usual. I came back from spain [my fourth and final getaway] two weeks ago then jumped straight into a two week placement at RWD magazine so I should just slide straight into the blog right? Wrong! I'm rusty! Along with many other 'skills' I have, my writing isn't as speedy gonzalez as it used to be :( Dahwell. It will be in about *looks at watch* 5 posts. Hopefully!

I was just about to post Amerie's new video but I've just noticed they are showing the 300th re-run of Juelz Santana's MTV Cribs. For obvious reasons, I am going to watch it then go to bed with my laptop by my head and wake up to blogging guilt and slight [JR's]writer's block.

I haven't blogged for a while and I have many reasons/excuses/dilemmas [Boring. Next sentence please...] but lets just fuggedaboutit and keep things moving.

Today I cooked sunday dinner. It was no chicken affair though, instead, lucky pieces of salmon were seasoned in my secret recipe! Honestly, it was very tasty...very!

Suggested cooking time of salmon: 20mins
Ditto of small potatoes: 30mins
Ditto of Roasted peppers/boiled veg: However long I decide to torture the vegetables for
Ditto of Gravy: 2mins

I'm not very good at maths but if someone can tell me why it took THREE hours to cook that hot-ass meal [by hot-ass I mean the fiery pits of the oven burning my innocent face] be my rhetorical guest. I was going to take an Marks and Spencer type picture of my dinner but couldn't be bothered. I was, and still am, fat[igued] from the last of my jetsetting around Spain. I will do a mini post on the pros and cons on the four holidays I went on this summer....yes, four! Portugal, New York, Sweden and Spain don't pay for themselves you know! I worked so much in between those trips that on one occasion I went to work a few hours after I got back from the airport. Soldier or Slave....or maybe they hooked up.

I'm back from NY. yay. obviously I am not happy about it! I wanna go back and everytime I think about it this rap song comes into my head....they sample the words "take me back take me back"...[arghhhh I always do this....i gotta go find what it is now....].

My trainers have been getting rewinds like all the time since I bought them last week - I can't stop wearing them! I think it's cos I have a thing for shoes/kicks that are nubuck/suede. It just feels so good when you can run your fingers over 'em and they feel like a freshly, shaved cat or something [errr the cat was the first thing that came to mind].

If my kicks called talk they would probably sound like Barry White when he was on the block macking on all the hoodchicks......that kinda hoodsmooth that girls just love.... yea....THAT'S how smooth these are....
Oh - remember that rapper, Smooth......no.....okay! I used to really like her song, 'Strawberries', when I was a lil girl....I was in love with the beat so much. I now know that it was because of the Patrice Rushen sample she used.....dahwell...the 90's had heaps of sampled/original songs that are way better than the trash I hear nowadays. The technician dude, who I spoke about in an earlier post, left me a voicemail message this afternoon. It was something along the lines of:

"I won't be at the store on Monday so you can call me on my personal number and we can talk about the installation of the music software.....my number is [this is where he usually mentions the store's number....this time he says his OWN number....]"

ERMMMMM.......yeah.

I told my mum I don't trust giving my laptop away because people can snoop through it all day and night if they want and I would be none the wiser. I wouldn't be suprised if the staff have looked at my personal photos and bits and bobs of my life I have saved on MS Word.

Apparently, the service they did on my laptop can be done in a day. They have had my laptop for two weeks. I phoned up once and some dude was like:

"Oh yeah....you're Miss ***- ****.......yeah the techician was on your laptop most of the day yesterday......he's not here now but I will have a look at it now and see how it's doing.....".

I hate not knowing what they are doing with it!!!!! I just want my life - I mean - laptop back lol!!!
I dunno bout this music software....it's not worth the cringey-ness of phoning some invisible technician outside of his work hours......especially since he ended the voice-message with:

'.....and yeeaa I hope you enjoy your evening..... and get back to me......"
