I know this song is going to be rinsed on the radio but hey...

I still remember when the Black Eyed Peas were getting stuck to our TV screens with 'Joints n Jams'....they're stuck to that green now! Anywho, I like the beat of their upcoming single, 'Rock That Body'. Just like 'Boom Boom Pow', I only seem to like Fergie's parts, I dunno if it's just me but since she joined B.E.P the guys verses are DEAD! Her parts always inject that old skool flavour whilst all the dudes seem like they are purposely trying to forget their Hip Hop past.

I can't even hear what she's saying on the track because she has yet again disguised her voice, this time sounding like an Oompa-Loompa [that wasn't a diss]. So I ask again....why is Fergie spitting better than the actual rappers in the group????

*Kara* is listening to a track with a killer bass and a LONG ....."....mother-shut yo' mouth..." but I'm just talking 'bout the intro.... ;)

Wishlist: Tribal Mish Mash Booties

As you can see from the post before, I'm still in a tribal mood so when I came across what I can best describe as a hybrid of said mood and one of my all time loves, I was très happy!!

TRIBAL FOOTWEAR!!!WOOOOO!!!
These shoes are visually exciting but, what is even better, is the fact that the shoes are Fair Trade-friendly! In every sense of friendliness, their trade is fair from the Osborn factory down to the threads of these headturners!

Kente plimsolls ^^^!!! And no, I'm not biased because I'm from Ghana....these are hot!!

Carla Venticinque-Osborn and Aaron Osborn, are the people behind the art that is Osborn Design so if you think these are hot, there's even MORE at their online store!

*HoodandProper* sings "...gimme gimme...more...gimme...gimme gimme more..."

G Block reigns jallof rice all over you naiga headz ;)

Ghana - 1
Nigerian - NAAAAFINNN'

[I know what you're thinking when you look at both these guys above....scary Nollywood flashbacks...trust me, I'm having them too :O]

It was reported on BBC sport a few minutes ago that the Nigerian captain said:
"Ghana deserved their victory...we [the Nigerians] played as individuals and not as a team...".

ahem..obviously...they Naigas...they dunno what helping each other out is....'Ghana must go' ring any bells eh...? lol!

The dude then went on to make some sorry excuses, "....we shouldn't have played 4-3-3".

Hmmm 4-3-3, eh?
.....maybe you should try 4-1-9 to win next time HAHAHAHAHA!!! Yeah, I said it and WHAT!!!WHAT!!!!

Hey, just had a thought.... a 'Nigeria Jus' Gerrout' bag....

G BLOCK MAYN!!!! Blackstars!!!!!

Oh and this year will see the first time a Ghanaian has qualified for the Winter Olympics! Jokes! Like Cool Runnings PT2 aint it!

*Hood and Proper* is loving annoying my Naiga friends lol! Love ya! Mwah!

Uffie-jackin'?

I dunno who these people are but I love their dancing to the Uffie and Mr Oizo track, 'Half An Uff'...

There have been a LOT of debates about whether Ke$ha [that ANNOYING 'TIK TOK' GIRL] has swagger-jacked Uffie's flow as they both share the same unruly-party-animal vibe with talk-rap child-like chopped-n-screwed vocals samples etc. [phew!..I really did get carried away with the description lol]. Personally, I'm not too bothered by Ke$ha's music, she will jack from those of the underground persuasion [like Uffie], exploit it for the pop masses [with some typical American house party video like something outta Van Wilder] then count the platinum discs. Same ol' same ol'. [We all know that Uffie is not the originator of her style of rap but I don't mind saying Ke$ha is whack muahahahaa!!]

For those who aren't familiar with this, just listen to Uffie's 'The Party'....and as SOON as she start's rapping you will hear how much Ke$ha has stolen her flow...

Uffie's been away for a while but this year she will be back and here is a new track 'Mcs Can Kiss', which sounds like she's taking shots at a certain somebody....

808's and HeartRates

Yesterday, Miss Rinnie and I had A LOT of fun filming a dance video which was entertaining for us and the people who were filming us so I think it turned out pretty damn GOOD! Imagine if Sesame Street had a section where they show the kids a step-by-step [OOoooh babayyyy....sorry...I had a New Kids On The Block moment] on how how to do New Jack Swing moves.....bright 90's visuals and overly enthusiastic presenters.....that was us lol!

At the moment, I don't have any photos from the shoot but for now here is some music we listened to get us into the vibe....

MC Hammer's backing dancers never cease to amaze me...talk about stamina....

Adidas Originals x Star Wars

Funny story...I had no idea about this Adidas release until the morning it actually happened at my store. If you're a Star Wars fan, the packaging of the trainers like action figurines [half plastic/half cardboard box etc] they are quite sweet but what was even sweeter were the dudes [who I thought were regular customers] that got into Darth Vader and Star Troopers outfits to promote the launch. I was also told they were in the advert for this collaboration....which I didn't see until today...

I can't wait to show my lil brother photos of me with Darth Vader and the Star Troopers cos he's young enough to believe I ACTUALLY met the real deal haha! I'm hoping I get the 'MY OLDER SISTER IS SO COOL' reaction rather than the 'IT'S NOT FAIR' face.

Staying awake at the movies...

I just read that this movie won a Golden Globe award yesterday.... ...was I the only one who didn't find The Hangover THAT funny? I mean, it was alright but I had more fun being given a piggy back by my friend [who also didn't find it "HILARIOUS"]at the Burger King drive-thru before we went in [ ;) ].

MTV Live Sessions: Dizzee Rascal

Although his debut was titled Boy In Da Corner [I'm dat WHAT! lol], Dizzee Rascal has never been one for sitting in the corner. Proving he can make a name for himself worldwide, his road-man accent has never wavered and neither has his ability to entertain a crowd with Grime, Electro, Hip Hop and House music.

His shows are always good so if you have not seen his MTV Live Sessions, I urge you to click here and watch as Dizzee, his live band of merry musicians and choirboys perform refreshing versions of his hits.

*HoodAndProper* reminisces over Dizzee's classic 'I Love You'

Random but Funky

Rick James 'Give It To Me Baby'.... give it to me...

Har Mar Superstar ft Beth Ditto 'Powerlunch'.....Gimme my powerlunch!! whoops Beth Ditto ate it...

*HoodAndProper* Has a power-Glee-marathon ahead...

WHO IS JUSTIN BIEBER?!?!?

I switched on to 106 & Park one evening and all of a sudden I'm seeing the crowd losing their minds over this lil skater lookin' kid with a cast on his leg, so I was really CONFUSED!! My first thought was that he was sick and reaching out for donations or something until they started talking about his fans.....DOUBLE CONFUSED as I the name seem to ring a bell but I didn't know why.

So I went on YouTube....this dude has 100 MILLIONS views....Diddy kissing his ass...Usher kissing his ass...Rhianna kissing his ass...Taylor Swift kissing his ass...Justin Timberlake kissing his ass...Ellen kissing his ass...and the list goes on cos EVERYBODY in America is Justin Bieber mad! And I mean MAD!

I was intrigued by the wee lad who is signed to Usher's Def Jam label [I dunno what it's called...probly something really smart like UsherTime].... I gotta admit...I'm kinda amazed by what I found out...

He can sing...rap...act...dance....skate...play drums.....guitar....piano... and trumpet.
He performed for Barack Obama at the White House....that's not all though...

apparently this Bebo dude's album 'My World pt 1' only has seven tracks on it......the FIRST artist to have ALL SEVEN tracks in the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and is the FIRST artist in the HISTORY of the Billboard charts to have FOUR tracks off his DEBUT album in the TOP 40 BEFORE it was even released (!?)......now this is CRAZYYYYY for someone who is only FIFTEEN and from Stratford....Canada (not East London lol)!!!

Although he only released his album in November 2009, he is already platinum in the US & Canada....

You may not like his music much...but you gotta respect his hustle...

ARGHHHHAHAHAHAHHAHA*Kara pulls chunks of her hair out and cries psycotically*I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUU JUSTINNNNNNNN

Oh and this kid KNOWS he's made it big....very cocky but he gets away with it...

This video is so cheesy with him and usher moonwalking all over the place....

Nike: True City

Today, Nike released a new iphone application for sneaker stalkers called True City. I just downloaded it and seems quite good [a lil slow though...and I'm using in-house wi-fi!].
It updates you on releases etc and it has it's own sorta Google map for the scene kids, so it will show you where the nearest restaurants, record shops, bars, sports stadiums and events that a typical Nikehead would go to.

The trailer doesn't really show you much....but that's where the mystery lies....download it and try for yourself!

*HoodandProper* Loves the smell coming from the kitchen....jellof...chicken....yum!

New Music: MIA 'There's Space For Ol Dat I See'

I like MIA because she's always willing to take risks and release sounds onto us that may not sit comfortably with our ears on the first listen. I have just listened to her track three times in a row and to be honest, I don't like this track that much. I know there are some who like whatever she does because it's MIA approved [this sentence sounds dumb but it makes sense lol]. That's fine. She IS an amazing artist, without a doubt, but I'm looking at the track for what it is an' I don' like deeeess songs misser.

I like the trippy effects in relation to the whole space theme, I once had a space moment and tried to make a beat along those lines so I love this kinda stuff. However, I don't like that you cannot play it loudly because of how brash it gets at times. I like that the dude who worked on this track, Rusko, did something opposite to his usual Dubstep sound as he did Kid Sister's 'Pro Nails' Dubstep remix but after listening to this....I found myself getting a lil ...meh.
I can't wait to hear more stuff from her though!

*HoodandProper*LONDON, Quieten down I need to make a sound!!!!

RIP: Teddy Pendergrass

Sadly, the orignal 'ladies love', Teddy Pendergrass, passed away yesterday at the age of 59. You may not be familiar with the name but you are familiar with his music.
He started out as a drummer in The Cadillacs before he went on to become the lead singer of Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes...here are some examples of his influence...

Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes' 'Is There A Place For Me'...

...was sampled on Usher's 'Take Your Hand' [Produced by Rich Harrison]

Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes' 'I Miss You' [my mum spotted this sample years ago and told me who the group were lol]....

....was sampled on Jay Z's 'This Can't Be Life' [OBVIOUSLY, produced by Kanye West]

Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes 'Wake Up Everybody'....

...was sampled on Jaheim ft Tha Rayne - Fabulous [Produced by Kay Gee, from Naughty By Nature]

Teddy Pendergrass later became famous in his own right with MANY hits like 'Love TKO' which has been used on sooooo many adverts and infomercials I know I have fallen asleep to many of these songs lol....

Teddy Pendergrass' 'Close The Door'....

....was sampled on 3LW's 'Neva Get Enuf' ft Lil Wayne [Produced by Presidential Campaign]

Teddy Pendergrass' 'Loving You Was Good'

....was sampled on Little Brother's 'Starvation' ft Chaundon [Produced by 9th Wonder]

Teddy Pendergrass' 'Come On Over To My Place'...

...was sampled on Nelly's 'My Place' ft Jaheim [Produced by Mo' Beats]

RIP Teddy....my parents loved your music when they were growing up and I enjoyed listening to their musical memories...

*HoodandProper* loves GOOD soul music like good soul food

Goldfinger...

My new ring!! And my gold leopard print nails [miss rachie-pie approved lol]....which I does myself!! I should start a nail salin hustle on tha side shouldn't I?

Anyways, my ring looks a lil bit like a vintage ring my friend got when we went to New York last year that I really liked - now I got my own woooooo!!!

At the end of our NY trip, we were too broke to get name rings but at this vintage warehouse place they had pre-owned rings [!?!]......here are the names of people who had given away their name rings [probably repo...].....

Stacey

Shelley

Sue-Ellen

Bobby

As you can imagine...I passed.

However, I nearly considered myself as a 'Stacey'....

*I AM* Karbie....the trailer park version of Barbie....but the upper class version of Cindy

Yo yo yo yo yo...gentlemen...are you ready to get this party started?

I usually don't like the look of 1-D cartoons but the Life and Times of Tim is worth watching. The main character, Tim, is a lot like Michael Cera's characters in...well anything Michael Cera plays is always a bumbling, stuttering, nerd with a hint of dry wit so if you like him, you will probably like this.

Best Line: The excitable DJ - "Heat! Heat! Dance! Heat! Man! Meat! Dance!"

There is another funny clip but I can't find it at the moment [because...it's 5am and I am really really tired], in the meantime, something to compensate my lazy ass....

*I AM* TOOOOOO TIRED TO THINK!?!?!

Robin Thicke ft Jazmine Sullivan 'Million Dollar Baby'

Robin Thicke and Jazmine Sullivan sound like....[hmm...butter is so OD...lol....sound smooth?....nah...ARGH....I think this might work...] they sound like a silk scarf being wrapped around your head and a warm cover being tucked up around you......night ;)

Haha!!!

If anyone watched Eastenders on Tuesday you would have noticed that
there were one too many new faces popping up [some next asian dude
jumps from under a bed???C'mon now this ain't nickelodeon!].
Anyways, why am I seeing that all these kids are part of Eastenders'
spinoff show, E20.

E20?

Yep! Eastenders is doing a Skins type spinoff just like that deeeeaaad
show Hollyoaks After Dark [more like Nollyoaks After More
Avenues....the acting is 5 thumbs down]. Apparently, it won't be as
far fetched as Skins....no, E20 is about a group of teens who are on
the run from someone's boyfriend...then squatting in a house or
something etc blah blah wah wah and yes I will probably watch it
online lol!!

I will post the video of the '1st episode' soon.....[how sad is all of
this?]

*I AM* Wii and Proper tryna play Mario Kart and type at the same time :

Here is the trailer for E20.....

don''t worry...I'll cuss it later...

and click here for the preview of the first episode ....

*I AM* actually laughing at how CHEESY the new theme tune is....after they made a big thing about people from all over the UK sending in their remixes to 1xtra....and that ^^ is the winner?!?!?PAHAHAHAHAAAHHAAAAAAA!!!!!

Boo!

Gucci!!...yyeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.....

Along with the other guys I used to live with at uni, we used to have a YouTube session where we would laugh at the WORST rappers/songs 'til we cried ourselves to a near death experience and one of the main perpetrators was Gucci Mane.

Although I didn't mind his song 'Freaky Gurl', I couldn't listen to him without being all toooo aware of how BAD his flow and lyrics were. Especially at his brave rap on Mariah Carey's 'Obsessed Remix'. On the other hand, he does quite well on this song....

Random Fact: Do you know that I have listened to this song every morning for three days straight?

I detect that Gucci has swagger jacked his own terrible lyrics [idiot...like he's repeating words of wisdom lol] from 'Freaky Gurl' in 'Spotlight' but I don't care coz Usher's chorus emphasises how catchy this Polow Da Don beat and takes me to that magical place of ignorant commercial bliss.
Oh and how good does Usher sound on another Polow production, 'Little Freak' featuring the girl whose voice and face I LOVE wayyy too much, Nicki Minaj. If you are wondering why the chorus sounds familiar, it's because Polow did a good job of translating epicness for the Soulja Boy generation by using the Stevie Wonder's classic 'Living For The City'.

[Uh oh...revenge of the camel toe, Nicki ^^^]
My other guilty GOOCHII pleasure is the Bangladesh produced 'Lemonade' track...............

The beat is [GOOCHII] soooo plain and repetitive but I [GOOCHI] love it for some strange reason.......uh oh.... I think I may be starting to accept him as an entertainer rather than a joke....next thing you know I'll be quoting his lyrics like I do with Dipset....AY...AY .....[GOOCHII]....my life is Georgia peaches but you look more like a lemon [Li-MON]....beat her like she stole my pendant....ARGHHHHH IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!

NuYear....Nu Thangz!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!wooo....whoops....am I late?
Well they do say good things come to those who wait.....but then again if I do JACK, how the heck am I gonna wake up one morning to the alarming but soothing sounds of Trey Songz clawing from inside the boot of a chrome Lamborghini with coral interior that reads 'A11 Yours' on the number plate ......
On the topic of 2010, my New Years resolution was:
"To do the things I have potential for"
I have done some of them in the past but I don't DO them as much as I should.

Sounds simple right? I hope it is.....

Just in case you don't know I love music.
I love making it, writing about it, talking about it, having heated debates about it [;)], learning about it, etc. However, I could be sooooooo much better at making it if I stuck at it when I started out at 16.....by now I could have got past that 'babysteps era' where you've taken the time to experience years of rubbish beats and got to know your 'sound' and equipment blah blah.
I am not there yet but I have been advised to let people hear and see more of what I do and break that fear barrier that is stopping me from progressing!!

Here is one thing I can do, which I plan to further this year with some outside help if anyone is interested ;) ....

And here is the thing I love doing [on good days lol] but know that I should be SOOOOO much better by now that it really gets on my nerves......

www.myspace.com/musikseven

It's still got stuff from three years ago on there hahahaa..aha...ah...uhh...ahooaww man I'm flopping myself!! So yes, you will be hearing some of my beats in between posts but I urge you to comment on them - criticism is always welcomed [as you can see from my posts, criticism is a favorite area of mine LOL].

If you are reading this and want to do something, DO IT!!! Find your passion, relight your fire [lol] no, seriously, what is the point of potential if you do not use it???
Would you buy cookies and not eat them? No - because that would be a stupid ass waste.
Would you buy a cake just to look at it?

You [and I] were born with hidden skills....find them and enjoy them dammit!!

*I AM* back :-$

WOOOOAAAHHHHH SWEETCHILD O'MINE!!!!

Before the end of the year, I did a lil bit of well deserved shopping since I worked like crazy and one of my buys has become a favourite.....you know when you have sumthing that you wanna frame and hang on your wall....well this is it....

There is a funny story behind this jacket....because.....I have a problem with wearing scarlet/cherry/hooker/vamp red. Anything I buy with red on it must be 90% another colour. For instance, ye olde Run DMC t-shirt always has two red lines on it...I'd say it's 93% white....so it passes the red test! Get it? I do this with shoes, nail varnish (deep coral as oppose to red), etc. Well this jacket is officially the ONLY item in my wardrobe that doesn't pass the red test but I had to have it. I am getting over my fear of red, finally!

So, thanks jacket...

.....and my two friends, Athena and Cheryl, who's online store SweetChild Fashion sold me this boldly graphic red piece of art!!!!Their shop is having a HUGE sale which ends January 31st [even though their stuff is already so low priced!!] SO GO SHOP NOW!!!!!!

I actually helped out on the shoot which features vintage clothing from their travels Stateside and Europe.....and I erm 'modelled' for 'em too so my unexperienced mug will pop up here and there haha!!!

I suggest that you add their site to your favourites because there is going to be even HOTTER stuff when they start their 2010 collection......I will keep you posted but you will have to stalk the site just in case I get caught up in buying stuff LOL!

"Git yo ass to the nearest PC and buy yo self some hotness at SweetChildVintage....I know I did....and if you don't....im gon' cuuuuut you" ;)

*I AM* HOOD and ARTSY
